Matrixport User Security Guide
Matrixport adheres to “Security First” culture and has taken various measures to protect users’ assets. We hope all users can be aware of potential security risks and take precautions in advance. We also encourage all users to inform us the security issues they encounter when using Matrixport products.
To enhance the security of your Matrixport account, we strongly recommend that you do the following on a regular basis, especially if you notice changes to your account that are not made by you:
1. Activate Two-Factor Authentication
Two-Factor Authentication mechanism adds an additional layer of protection to your account. This means that when you access your account, you will need to use either Ukey/Google Authenticator/SMS/E-mail verification code in addition to your password. Therefore, please take good care and prevent loss of your Ukey and mobile phone.
2.Don't Use the Same Username and Password as Matrixport on Other Websites
If you set the same username and password as Matrixport on other websites, hackers can try to log into your Matrixport account with the leaked user information when other websites are being hacked. At the same time, you need to set a strong password (at least 8 characters, both uppercase and lowercase, numbers, and special characters) and keep changing your password regularly.
3.Prevent Phishing Attacks and Don’t Reveal Your Login Credentials
Beware of phishing sites, don’t open unfamiliar or suspicious URLs nor enter your password via these links. The hacker may forge a page that appears to be real but it is actually fake. Once you enter your password, the hacker can obtain your username and password. Please carefully identify Matrixport official website. Meanwhile, don't save your password in the browser to prevent someone with access to your computer from stealing it.
Never tell others your password. Matrixport will never ask for your password or other sensitive information (such as bank accounts, SMS verification codes, date of birth, personal information, etc.) by email or phone.
4.Perform Anti-Virus Check Regularly and Keep the Anti-Virus Database Updated
Perform anti-virus check regularly to scan your computer. If you find any suspicious malwares, remove them immediately. Also, please keep your anti-virus database up to date.
5. Keep the Operating System and Browser Updated for Security Patches
Set auto update for your computer. If you receive an update notification, please install it as soon as possible and restart your computer to ensure that the security patches are installed in time. Otherwise, the hackers may carry out the attack during this period.
6.Access Internet via a Secure Network
Use public or free Wi-Fi carefully, even if it needs a password to access. When you connect to a public network, nearby hackers may monitor your network traffic, such as sniffing the password you are entering.
If you are using a public computer, please follow these steps:
- Be careful when entering the password to prevent peeking
- Make sure the account is logged out after the operation
- Clear passwords, cookies, and caches saved in the browser
